The Big Hiatus

The Quiet Time Ended

So after a long Hiatus, Ortens has come back with some great news! The script for Prologue and Chapter 1 are being wrapped up, but I think I'll have a few more changes to do before this is all over. Two pages of Chapter 1 have been started, and about 5 pages in all have been planned out. Thank you for all of your patience! This posts will hopefully give you a bit of insight into the first 2 Chapters coming to you guys! Here we go!

The Road Block:

There were many things back in 2011 that were giving me problems, but the most important was how to carry the story to each pavilion and keeping it in flow. The first two chapters were already figured out, and so were the last two, but I'll get to that later in the fun stuff. This was a terrible plot hole seeing as I did not have any specific order I wanted to go through. Another thing was the villains, I had a basic idea of where they came from and who was behind it all, but without a good back story. Throughout the second half last year, I couldn't figure these two things out and was one of the lead reasons why I took a hiatus.

Only recently did I finally break the block. I found that I wasn't looking deep enough, but ironically I thought about it in the original ending. I forgot the biggest connection that I'd made. In Epic Mickey, Oswald appeared to be very tech-savvy and pretty bad ass in the process and in Epic Mickey 2 they haven him as sort of Mickey's tech support. EPCOT Center always boasted it was run on a computer system INSIDE the park, specifically Communicore. I won't go too far into this because I'd give it away, but what do YOU think could go wrong? I'll just leave it at that ;D

This solving the biggest problem I had with the comic, I feel safe enough to actually alter a bit of the original script to fit these ideas and present it to the public.

What to Expect:

  • Prologue will be somewhat like Epic Mickey's narration at the beginning, but in the later half there will be narration from Oswald and the bunny kids. A glimpse of Spaceship Earth and Communicore will be in this chapter, but nothing in depth.

  • Chapter one is strictly for the Imagination Pavillion, meaning Image Works, JII, the whole shebang! The only thing I have not written in yet is which show I have chosen for the Magic Eye Theater, Currently it's Makin' Memories, but if I find anything else interesting to add, I will change it.

  • After Oswald feels he "inherited" EPCOT just as he did Wasteland, he goes to seek out the person in charge. Intellegence, through old videos and other things he already had of the Discovery Bay, direct him to the imagination pavilion to seek out the Dreamfinder.

  • Currently, the imagination pavilion has been given a musical tone to it ;D
One of the sketches from the new pages, this one is the one that is less along than the two, but I still love the perspective. This is the third page after the introduction of figment, closer to the center of the first chapter. (I do map out the pages beforehand, so I have no regrets starting in the middle.) I'll put up some more sketches from the upcoming seven pages of Chapter one that are currently in the works, just thought you'd like this one teaser ;D

The Horizon's Story

One of the few things I haven't gotten into concept sketching is Horizons, or at least I don't approve of it yet 030 but while I've found the perfect guy to get inspiration from. Robert McCall, the man who did the mural at the end of Horzions called The Prologue and the Promise plus many more Space Murals. His work is just so amazing and I managed to find a complete article on him from Progress City USA. If you don't know who this man is, please folow this link and broaden your Horizon!

Difficulties in the Cortex

Like I said in an earlier post, I've been really unhappy with my drawings of Buzzy. I don't know what it is, but I think there are a few issues that keep me from drawing him to my liking.  First, I'm basing him more off his animated self. Honestly, the last time I ever saw this show was late 90s, early 2000s, so my memory isn't the best on his animated part of the attraction and the animated sequences recorded for tributes like on Martin's Videos are low quality. I hate sounding like a Negative Nancy, but it definitely has been a rocky road for this Commando. Nothing's set in stone yet since I'm still in design phase with him, but here are a few head sketches of him and some notes that I took on it.

Commandering the Brain

Oh dear, I can't believe I uploaded a picture of him after some 2 months of saying, "no >.> he doesn't look right!" so I finally broke down and showed it to you guys, everyone, meet Buzzy from Cranium Command.

Us here at LostCOT have been making sure that Oswald's stay at the WoL is more hands on to the point that he'll uh...

Well, Let's just say he won't forget it :3 BAHAHAHAHAA! AND the little bunnykids will get in on the act as well, though I kind of figured that since there so tiny that they wouldn't have their correct size....

And remember, Use your head, don't use your head ;D

Two good friends

I've been designing Dreamfinder's look, here's one that I did a while back of him and figment in one of their classic poses.

Two birds of a feather...

Share one post together. "Boid" from The Bird and Robot Show will make his way along with Tiger, the auto-making robot, into LostCOT as a sort of mascot to the World of Motion, since it didn't truly have one like JII, WoL or Communicore. I don't know what it is about this character, but I've always found him so interesting.
"Hiya folks and welcome to my show. My name is Boid and I'm here to entertain, educate, and amaze, for I am an audio-animatronicated figure" -Boid

And the lesser known character that was meant for EPCOT Center's World Showcase, but was eventually moved to Tokyo Disneyland. She was never given a name, but she was a part of Meet the World in the Japanese Pavillion.. I named her Tsuru since that is Japanese for Crane. If you've never heard of her or seen her before, try looking up Martin's Video about Japan Pavillion of EPCOT Center.

I'm trying to pace myself because I did work on a lot in the past few months so bare with me and there will be more up soon ;D
